The problem of waste generated due to damage or destruction of buildings and structures during hostilities, terrorist acts or sabotage is more relevant than ever. Military conflicts cause significant damage to infrastructure, resulting in large amounts of iron and steel debris. These materials form the basis of many buildings and structures, and their accumulation becomes a serious environmental problem.

Metals such as cast iron and steel have a long period of decay, which makes their presence in the environment particularly dangerous. In this regard, it is necessary to pay special attention to the issues of environmental management of iron and steel wastes generated as a result of destruction. This requires the development and implementation of effective methods of managing iron and steel waste at all stages, from their collection to final processing.

The destruction of buildings and structures in areas of military conflicts leads to the formation of large volumes of waste containing iron and steel. These wastes have different forms: debris of structures, fragments of pipelines, parts of machines and equipment. The main problem is that these materials are difficult to process and require special conditions for their safe storage and processing.

Effective management of iron and steel waste is a key factor in reducing their negative impact on the environment and human health.
