Waste from the production, preparation, supply and use of plastics, synthetic rubber and artificial fibers is one of the most difficult environmental problems of our time. The rapid development of industry has led to a significant increase in the volume of production of these materials, which, in turn, has caused a large-scale increase in the amount of waste. Those wastes that do not undergo biological decomposition and remain in the environment for hundreds of years are especially dangerous. Their accumulation causes a serious threat to both the environment and human health.
Environmental consequences of this process include soil, water and air pollution, as well as negative effects on flora and fauna. The production and consumption of plastic products, synthetic rubber and man-made fibers is constantly increasing, which only exacerbates this problem. The main sources of waste include:
- waste arising during the production and processing of raw materials;
- residues from industrial operations for the production of finished products;
