07 01 Wastes from production, preparation, supply and use of basic organic chemicals
The production, preparation, supply and use of basic organic chemicals are an integral part of modern industry. Organic chemicals are used in various industries such as pharmaceuticals, agrochemicals, textiles and plastics. However, this process has another side of the coin — significant volumes of waste generated during all stages of the production cycle.
Waste arising from the production and use of organic chemicals can be extremely dangerous for the environment and human health. They often contain toxic substances that can cause serious environmental problems, such as soil, water and air pollution. In addition, the accumulation of waste leads to the loss of useful resources, which reduces the efficiency of production processes and increases their cost.
Despite the fact that there are technologies that allow you to reduce the amount of waste and increase its safety, many enterprises still face difficulties in implementing such solutions. The reasons for this can be various: from insufficient funding to the absence of proper legal regulation. As a result, a significant amount of hazardous waste remains without proper treatment, which poses a threat to ecosystems and human health. Waste management, collection and processing services: Waste from the production, preparation, supply and use of basic organic chemicals Code of NPV 07 01.
Wastes of production, preparation, supply and use of basic organic chemicals. Code according to the National List of Waste 07 01. Operations according to Appendices 1, 2 to the Law of Ukraine "On Waste Management" D13, R5.
A pity for the environment and people
Wastes from the production, preparation, supply and use of basic organic chemicals have a serious negative impact on the environment. They can enter water bodies, soils and the atmosphere, causing significant pollution. Organic waste containing heavy metals, toxic organic compounds and other hazardous substances is especially dangerous.
Soil pollution occurs due to the penetration of chemicals into the ground, which can lead to the degradation of fertile soils, reduced yields and the destruction of natural ecosystems. Organic chemicals can accumulate in the soil for a long time, which makes their impact on the environment long-lasting and difficult to eliminate.
At the same time, getting waste into reservoirs can lead to significant pollution of water resources, which negatively affects aquatic organisms and can cause the death of fish, algae and other living organisms. Water pollution also poses a threat to the drinking water supply, which can lead to serious health problems in the population.
Air pollution occurs due to emissions of toxic substances during production processes. This can lead to the formation of smog, an increase in the concentration of harmful substances in the air and a decrease in the quality of atmospheric air. As a result, air pollution can cause a deterioration in the health of the population, in particular, the development of respiratory diseases.
Pity for people
Waste generated during the production and use of basic organic chemicals can cause significant damage to human health. The most dangerous are those wastes that contain toxic substances capable of causing acute and chronic diseases.
One of the most common consequences of exposure to toxic waste is the development of respiratory diseases. Inhalation of vapors or fine particles of chemical substances can lead to irritation of the respiratory tract, the development of asthma, bronchitis and other diseases of the respiratory system. Children, the elderly and people with pre-existing health problems are especially vulnerable.
In addition, some organic chemicals have a carcinogenic effect, that is, they can promote the development of cancer. Long-term contact with such substances, for example, due to water or air pollution, increases the risk of developing cancer in the population living near industrial facilities.
Another serious consequence of exposure to toxic waste is disruption of the nervous system. Some chemicals can cause nervous disorders, including depression, anxiety, sleep disorders, and other mental health problems. They can also negatively affect cognitive functions, reducing the ability to concentrate, remember and make decisions.
Hazardous waste can also affect the reproductive system, causing impaired fertility, miscarriages and birth defects in newborns. Women exposed to toxic waste during pregnancy have an increased risk of giving birth to children with developmental disabilities.
Ways to reduce harm
In order to reduce the harm caused by waste from the production, preparation, supply and use of basic organic chemicals, it is necessary to apply a comprehensive approach to their management. This includes not only efficient collection and processing of waste, but also the introduction of environmentally friendly technologies at all stages of the production process.
Methods of environmental management of waste from the production, preparation, supply and use of basic organic chemicals include:
- application of innovative technologies that allow minimizing the amount of waste;
- use of waste-free or low-waste production processes;
- optimizing the use of resources, which reduces the need for the production of new chemicals;
- implementation of effective waste treatment systems that allow to reduce their toxicity;
- increasing control over the quality of waste and its safety for the environment;
- transportation of waste from the production, preparation, supply and use of basic organic chemicals in strict compliance with norms and standards.
Collection, sorting, crushing and processing operations are also an important component of ecological waste management (D13) wastes from the production, preparation, supply and use of basic organic chemicals. These processes help reduce the volume of hazardous waste and increase the efficiency of its subsequent storage or processing (R5).
Involving the public in environmental safety issues is also an important part of environmental management. Increasing public awareness of the dangers of waste and ways to reduce it contributes to the formation of a responsible attitude towards the environment.
