Metallurgical processes, in particular the mining of silver, gold and platinum, create a significant amount of waste. These wastes are often classified as alternative wastes in this sub-group. They may include slag, dust, ashes and other residues resulting from the heat treatment of these precious metals. This waste may contain toxic substances that pose a serious threat to the environment and human health.
Alternative waste in this subgroup is one of the most problematic categories of industrial waste. During the heat treatment of silver, gold and platinum, various types of waste are generated, which require special methods of environmental management. The main sources of this waste are:
