Waste from the production, preparation, supply and use of adhesives and sealants (including waterproof products) is one of the most difficult environmental problems of today. These products are widely used in various industries, from construction to medicine, and their production is accompanied by significant waste generation. This applies not only to finished product residues, but also to intermediate products, contaminated materials and used packaging. Adhesives and sealants often contain chemical components that can be dangerous for the environment and human health. Improper management of such waste can lead to serious consequences.
The problem becomes even more urgent in view of the constant growth of production and use of these materials. In many cases, the waste ends up in landfills, where it can remain active for decades, releasing toxic substances into the soil, water and air. Especially dangerous are water-resistant products, which have increased resistance to the influence of external factors and therefore are difficult to decompose naturally.
It should also be noted that many enterprises do not have effective waste management systems, which leads to their accumulation and improper storage. This creates additional risks for the environment and human health. For example, during the storage of adhesives and sealants, there may be leaks of chemicals that contaminate the surrounding areas. A pity for the environment and people
Wastes from the production, preparation, supply and use of adhesives and sealants (including water-resistant products) cause significant damage to the environment. The main threat lies in the chemical composition of these materials. Many adhesives and sealants contain organic solvents, resins and other chemicals that can be toxic to flora and fauna. Getting into water, such waste can destroy fish and other aquatic organisms, as well as deteriorate water quality.
In addition, when entering the soil, the chemical components of adhesives and sealants can contaminate it, making it unsuitable for agriculture and other uses. This is especially true of waterproof products that can be stored in the natural environment for a long time without decomposing. This resistance to decomposition means that this waste can remain hazardous for decades, causing long-term environmental damage.
Another important problem is the emission of greenhouse gases during the production and incineration of waste adhesives and sealants. Many of these materials are organic, and burning them produces large amounts of carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases that contribute to climate change. Unburned waste can emit harmful substances during decomposition, polluting the air.

Waste from the production, preparation, supply and use of adhesives and sealants (including waterproof products) pose a serious threat to human health. Given the long persistence of some chemical components, even minimal contact with them can have serious consequences.
Ways to reduce harm
In order to minimize harm from waste from the production, preparation, supply and use of adhesives and sealants (including waterproof products), it is necessary to apply a comprehensive approach that includes several areas. One of the key methods – environmental management of waste from the production, preparation, supply and use of adhesives and sealants (including waterproof products), which includes:
- optimization of production processes to reduce the amount of waste;
- implementation of modern waste processing and reuse technologies (R7);
- systematic monitoring and control of processing processes;
- education and informing the population about the dangers of waste and methods of their proper handling;
- development and implementation of legislative norms regulating the environmental management of waste from the production, preparation, supply and use of adhesives and sealants (including waterproof products).
