Waste electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE) is a significant problem for modern society. This waste is one of the fastest growing types of waste in the world. Every year, the amount of WEEE continues to grow, which is associated with the rapid development of technologies and the growth in the level of consumption of electronic devices. Old models quickly become obsolete, which leads to their replacement by newer and more modern analogues. This process creates a huge amount of e-waste, which is not always subject to proper management and recycling.

The main components of WEEE are metals, plastics, glass and various chemical compounds, many of which are dangerous for the environment and human health. Despite this, most e-waste ends up in landfills or other places where it cannot be properly treated and recycled. This creates serious environmental and social problems, as such waste often contains toxic substances such as lead, mercury and cadmium, which can lead to soil and water pollution.
