Wood waste generated during the construction and demolition of buildings is one of the main problems of modern urban development. During the construction and dismantling of buildings, a significant amount of wood remains is created, which can include boards, beams, ceilings, formwork and other wooden materials. This waste often accumulates on construction sites and must be removed, which can cause serious environmental and social problems.

Wood waste pollution is particularly dangerous in contaminated areas where the wood can be impregnated with harmful chemicals such as paints, solvents, adhesives and other materials. In order to reduce the negative impact of wood waste on the environment and human health, it is necessary to implement complex approaches to their management. Methods of ecological management of wood waste include:

• organization of the processes of crushing and processing (D13) wood for its further use or processing;
• ensuring safe transportation of wood waste in compliance with all environmental standards;
• use of renewable energy sources for wood processing and reduction of greenhouse gas emissions;
• development of programs to reduce the amount of wood waste by optimizing construction and demolition processes.

Effective wood waste management also involves cooperation with environmental organizations and waste collection and processing companies (R5). Educational work with the population and construction companies regarding the need to comply with environmental standards and the implementation of sustainable practices is also important.
