Waste management: oil recovery from cooling water treatment

The problem of waste generated during the treatment (purification) of cooling water containing oils is extremely relevant in the modern world. Water cooling systems are widely used in industrial processes to maintain the required temperature conditions. During the operation of such systems, oils and other pollutants enter the water, creating hazardous waste. The management of hazardous waste from the treatment (purification) of cooling water containing oils requires a careful approach and the use of modern methods of environmental management.

The treatment of cooling water containing oils is a complex technological process that requires the use of special equipment and cleaning methods. The water circulating in the cooling systems is contaminated with oils, chemicals, heavy metals and other impurities produced during the production process. This leads to the formation of a large amount of hazardous waste, which requires a special approach to collection, sorting, transportation and processing.

In order to reduce the damage from cooling water treatment waste containing oils, it is necessary to implement modern methods of environmental management. Such methods include:

• use of special filters (R9) and separators to remove oils from water;
• implementation of closed water circulation systems that minimize oil leaks;
• application of biological methods of water purification using microorganisms;
• recycling of oils for further use in industry (R13);
• regular monitoring of water quality and control over the condition of equipment.

The application of these methods allows not only to reduce the negative impact on the environment, but also to reduce the costs of water treatment and waste disposal. In addition, an important aspect is raising the awareness of workers and the population about the dangers of oil waste and safety measures when working with them.
