06 09 Wastes from production, preparation, supply and use of phosphorus compounds and phosphorus chemical processes
Waste from the production, preparation, supply and use of phosphoric compounds and phosphoric chemical processes is one of the most important environmental problems of today. These wastes are generated during various stages of the production cycle, starting with the extraction of phosphate raw materials and ending with the production and use of finished chemical products. They may contain residues of phosphoric acids, phosphates, as well as various by-products that are formed as a result of chemical reactions.
Phosphorus is an essential element in many industries, including agriculture, where it is used to produce fertilizers, and in industry, including the production of pesticides, detergents, and other chemical products. However, during the production and processing of phosphorous compounds, a significant amount of waste is generated, which poses a serious threat to the environment and human health.
Wastes from phosphoric chemical processes often contain hazardous components such as heavy metals, toxic organic compounds and other substances that can contaminate soil, water and air. The lack of proper management of these wastes leads to their uncontrolled distribution, which in turn threatens ecosystems and human health.
In this regard, waste management of production, preparation, supply and use of phosphoric compounds and phosphoric chemical processes requires the implementation of complex environmental management methods. This includes the operations of collecting, sorting, crushing and processing waste, as well as its transportation to storage or processing sites. Waste management, collection and processing services: Waste from the production, preparation, supply and use of phosphoric compounds and phosphoric chemical processes NPV code 06 09.
Wastes of production, preparation, supply and use of phosphorus compounds and phosphorus chemical processes. Code according to the National List of Waste 06 09. Operations according to Appendices 1, 2 to the Law of Ukraine "On Waste Management" D13, R7.
A pity for the environment and people
Waste from phosphoric chemical processes can have a serious impact on the environment. One of the biggest risks is the pollution of water resources, especially rivers, lakes and groundwater. Phosphorus compounds, getting into the water, contribute to the excessive growth of algae, which leads to eutrophication. This phenomenon is characterized by the rapid growth of algae biomass, which leads to a decrease in the level of oxygen in the water and, as a result, to the death of fish and other aquatic organisms.
In addition, phosphorus-containing waste can pollute the soil, leading to its degradation and loss of fertility. Heavy metals, often present in waste, can accumulate in the soil and affect plants, making them unsuitable for human or animal consumption. It can also lead to poisoning of animals and people who consume contaminated products.
Atmospheric pollution is also a significant problem associated with waste from phosphorous chemical processes. Some components of this waste can be released into the air in the form of dust or gases, which causes acid rain, reduces air quality and threatens public health.
Pity for people
Phosphorous compounds contained in waste can have a serious impact on human health. The biggest danger is the possibility of toxic substances entering the food chain, which can lead to poisoning of people. Phosphate fertilizers, which may contain residues of heavy metals such as cadmium, lead and mercury, are especially dangerous.
Constant exposure to phosphoric waste on the body can lead to various diseases, including diseases of the kidneys, bones and nervous system. In addition, phosphorus compounds can be carcinogenic, i.e. contribute to the development of cancer.
The effect of phosphorus waste on the respiratory system is another important aspect. People who work in enterprises that use phosphoric compounds, or live near such enterprises, are exposed to the risk of inhaling toxic gases and dust, which can lead to diseases of the lungs, bronchi and other respiratory organs.
It is also worth noting that phosphoric waste can cause chemical burns and skin irritation upon direct contact with them. This is especially dangerous for workers who handle or transport such waste.
Ways to reduce harm
Reducing the damage caused by the waste of phosphoric chemical processes requires the implementation of effective methods of environmental management. One of the main approaches is the use of waste-free technologies, which allow minimizing the generation of waste at all stages of the production and use of phosphorus compounds.
In order to reduce the amount of waste, it is important to implement the operations of collection, sorting, crushing and processing (D13) of waste from the production, preparation, supply and use of phosphorus compounds and phosphorus chemical processes. This allows to reduce the amount of waste to be stored further.
Also, an important aspect is the correct transportation of waste from the production, preparation, supply and use of phosphorus compounds and phosphorus chemical processes. For this, it is necessary to use special containers and vehicles that prevent the leakage of dangerous substances and ensure their safe transportation to storage or processing sites.
Another important approach is the introduction of technologies for the reuse (R7) of phosphorus compounds. This allows reducing the need for new resources and reducing the amount of waste generated as a result of their production and use.
