Primary production waste is a serious problem that needs attention from both scientists and the public. These wastes are generated during the primary stages of the production of metals and other materials, and their negative impact on the environment and human health cannot be overestimated.
Slags of primary production arise in large volumes during the production of steel, aluminum, copper and other metals. These wastes contain heavy metals and other toxic substances that can pollute the soil, water and air. Despite the fact that there are various methods of treatment and processing of slag, a significant part of it still remains dangerous for the environment.
The main sources of slag are:
- metallurgical plants;
- energy enterprises;
- chemical production.
