Halogen-free emulsions and solutions for machining

In today's world, machining occupies a central place in many industrial processes. The use of emulsions and solutions is an integral part of this process, providing effective lubrication, cooling and protection of the tools. However, most traditional emulsions contain halogens, which pose a serious threat to the environment and human health.

Halogen-containing machining emulsions are widely used due to their excellent lubricating properties and stability. However, these substances can have a negative impact on the environment and human health. Halogens such as chlorine, bromine and fluorine, when released into the environment, can lead to the formation of toxic compounds such as dioxins and furans.

One ​​of the main problems is the difficulty of processing these emulsions. Traditional methods of neutralization are not always effective, which leads to the accumulation of hazardous waste. Moreover, emissions of halogen-containing substances into air, water and soil can have long-term consequences, in particular, pollution of water resources and soil.

Halogen-free emulsions provide a high level of lubrication and cooling, but do not contain dangerous halogens, which significantly reduces their negative impact on the environment and human health.

Effective environmental management practices for hazardous waste machining emulsions and halogen-free solutions include:

• use of specialized technologies for waste treatment;
• development of new materials that do not contain halogens;
• implementation of the recycling system (R9);
• training of personnel in safe methods of working with emulsions.

Operations for the collection, sorting, crushing and treatment (D13) of hazardous waste machining emulsions and solutions that do not contain halogens must be well organized and controlled at each stage. Transportation of hazardous waste emulsions for machine processing and solutions that do not contain halogens must be carried out in accordance with the requirements of safety and environmental standards.
